At Roundhill Farmhouse we take protection and preservation of the environment seriously. We are deeply concerned that our hospitality leaves as small a footprint on the planet as possible and that it benefits local businesses where it can.
-
- We use renewable electricity – this ensures that the energy you use does not contribute to climate change.
- We recycle all waste that is generated in providing our hospitality and that generated by our guests. This includes collection for reuse and recycle of plastic, glass and metals, and food waste for composting.
- We source local produce for our breakfast table that includes eggs from the back garden, cheeses (and butter) from our local and now famous Bath Soft Cheese farm in Kelston, and locally raised and cured meats when they are available.
- Fruit comes from ours and our neighbours’ trees in season, and this also finds its way into our chutneys and pickles.
- We bake fresh bread in the mornings when we can – so no packaging there either !
- We send our linen to a nearby laundry that uses green energy and adopts eco-products for its cleaning.
- We use refillable dispensers in the bathrooms to minimise packaging and product waste.
- We don’t provide water in single use plastic bottles as our local water is soft and fresh. We ask that our guests refill their bedside glasses from the tap to avoid unnecessary waste.
- Our gardens are purposely planted with an abundance of Lavender, Honeysuckle and Ceaonothus to attract bees, which you will hear happily buzzing in the summer months. Our honey is provided by an organic village producer and is delicious!
- We do need to travel by car to run our business, but calculate the associated emissions as part of our annual carbon budget when we contribute to offsetting the impact on the climate
We do the above because we are concerned and care for our changing world. We can do more and our approach will evolve as other options for heating and transport do also. We want you to be able to book your stay with us knowing that we are minimising the impact wherever we can, so you need not compromise your own principles for a greener, more sustainable life.
