We are thrilled to now be offering two of our award-winning interiors courses at Roundhill as residential training packages.
Come alone, or with friends, and enjoy not just a night in our lovely Farmhouse, but learn a new skill and immerse yourself in our world of interiors for a day or two.
Both courses are run by Vanessa Sayce – a professionally trained interior designer and furniture painter. Her business, The Marmalade House, has been running its courses for over 6 years and has won numerous awards and accolades, along with extensive press coverage in the world of interiors.
We invite you to join us on what are always fun, hands-on practical workshops, that include our famous home-cooked farmhouse lunches, and now the addition of our overnight hospitality at Roundhill.
Choose either, of both, of the courses below and we will tailor your stay to meet your needs. Our superb country village pub is only five minutes away on foot too, so in the evening you can enjoy a hearty supper, a real fire and The Old Crown famous cocktails.

Colour Your Home
This brand new course is a full day of colour, interior design and mood-boarding. The aim of the course is to dispel the fear of using colour and design within the home, to enable you to create a bespoke colour-scheme for a room or interior space you have in mind.
The day begins by looking at the science of colour, learning how to mix it, how the traditional colour wheel works, and how to apply it to your home. We then look at interior design styles and influences, and give guidance on how to refine your own personal style. The afternoon is then spent painting room sets, using knowledge acquired in the morning, adding in blending fabrics, and culminating in the preparation of a colour scheme of your own.
How to Paint Furniture
A full day of learning about chalk paint, colour and technique and how to paint your furniture to professional standards.
We teach you the magic of chalk paint: how it can be finished with a range of techniques from gilding and crackle-glazing, decoupage and stencilling. We show you how to layer colours for a Scandinavian effect, and how to try different ways of painting to suit your own style: flat-painting for a contemporary finish, or distressing for a classical French look. With lots more besides, this exceptional course gives you the tools and confidence to start your own work, or greatly improve the skills you already have.
